Intervention & Detox

Your first step to recovery

An intervention is a coordinated effort between family and loved ones, where an interventionist leads the meeting and provides guidance and mediation. The goal of an intervention is to initiate treatment by persuading an addicted individual to make the decision to seek help.

If your family member isn’t ready to admit their addiction, we will help you find the right interventionist who is an expert in family dynamics and addiction confrontation. This person will be in constant contact with us to let us know how the process is going. Once your loved one is ready, we will be ready to act to get them into treatment and on the way to recovery.

At Addiction Campuses of Mississippi, in addition to our residential and outpatient programs, we provide medical detoxification. We have a detailed assessment we use to determine what steps need to be taken for the best course of action.

Your first step to recovery.

“Hitting rock bottom” is a phrase often synonymous with addiction. When an addicted individual hits their absolute lowest point, it is believed their eyes will finally be opened to the hope of healing and recovery.

Let us help you help them.

Addiction Campuses of Mississippi is prepared to help you help your loved one. Because chemical dependence clouds the brain, it is often difficult for an addict to think rationally - even when bottom is hit. We believe in raising the bottom for alcoholics and addicts. By reaching the bottom faster and creating a stronger and more efficient support network, we can begin bringing help and healing.

Often times an intervention is necessary to help confront someone with their alcohol addiction, prescription drug addiction, and illegal drug addiction.

What is an intervention?

An intervention in all of its many forms is an invitation for your loved one to seek treatment and find freedom from their substance addiction. This process is a coordinated effort between the family and loved ones, friends or peers. We believe in creating an opening in the denial system of your loved one to facilitate help. During an intervention, addiction treatment options are explored, and arrangements are made for your loved one to accept help.

When is it time to call in a professional?

When you talk to a struggling addict about your concerns for his or her health do they:

  • Become defensive and aggressive

  • Lie about things you know to be true

  • Blame you for making things up

  • Find ways to turn the conversation back to you

  • Blame you for their addiction

  • Threaten to run away

  • Threaten suicide

  • Deny, deny, deny

Each of these are typical responses to confrontation of an addict. If you are getting these types of responses, it’s time to call a professional interventionist. Professional interventionalists help identify the appropriate people in the addict’s life who will become an influential part of a recovery team. The interventionist professionally supports, educates, provides guidance, direction and training - all with a deeper understanding of addiction and a non-judgmental approach.

At Addiction Campuses of Mississippi, we partner with highly qualified substance abuse interventionists that we trust. It is our job to work with you to determine where an individual struggling with substance abuse is on the addiction spectrum to determine what kind of intervention he or she may need. We then work with our intervention partners to coordinate an intervention to get them into addiction treatment. This person will be in constant contact with us to let us know how the process is going. Allow us and our interventionist partners to get them on the road to full recovery.

The next step: Detox.

Abstaining from drugs and alcohol is the first thing that must occur to begin the recovery process from addiction. However, for many that suffer from addiction, to just stop is not only difficult - it is sometimes dangerous. Many that are addicted to drugs or alcohol have experienced unpleasant, painful withdrawal symptoms at some point during the course of their disease. Medical options exist and are accessible for those that want to begin the recovery process, remain sober, and return to a healthy lifestyle.

What is Detox?

Detox is the process by which withdrawal symptoms are medically managed in a hospital setting. Because it can be dangerous to suddenly stop using alcohol or some drugs without proper medical support, detox makes the process of withdrawal safer and more comfortable, thereby improving the odds for a successful recovery.

At Addiction Campuses of Mississippi, in addition to our residential and outpatient programs, we provide medical detoxification. We have a detailed assessment we use to determine what steps need to be taken for the best course of action.
